Scientific Hair Transplant with 3D Technology

Doku Studio Arc is a device developed as an R&D project within Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic, designed specifically for hair transplantation and to assist in pre-operative planning. The device’s goal is to perform calculations that are nearly impossible to perform manually on a human head. These calculations enable doctors to make more accurate predictions regarding the results of hair transplantation.

Fundamental Operating Principle of the Device

Doku Studio Arc performs the following three tasks to calculate the transplantation area and evaluate the quality of hair follicles before the hair transplant:

  1. 3D Model Creation: Producing a 360-degree 3D model of the head
  2. Photography: Taking a total of 48 photos from 16 horizontal angles and 3 different axes
  3. Hair Strand Analysis: Obtaining information about hair thickness, density, and average hair strands per root from an integrated hair analysis device

These three features offer high standards in imaging, which all clinics require during hair transplantation processes.

3D Model Creation

Calculating the transplantation area is one of the most challenging tasks for all doctors planning hair transplantation. Estimating the transplantation area is essential to understanding the coverage of grafts to be implanted.

Doku Studio arc 7 Cameras

Doku Studio Arc houses seven of the most advanced cameras available today for 3D modelling, known as “Depth Cameras.” These cameras, with their software, can model a 360-degree head model with exact dimensions within seconds from the images they capture in 1-2 seconds.


With the cameras in the device, 48 photos are taken. These photos are obtained from synchronous shots taken from four different cameras located at three different vertical angles. One of these cameras is positioned directly on top and takes one photo from the top. The other cameras are placed at vertical angles of 45, 90, and 135 degrees, assuming the top as 0 degrees. These three cameras take a total of 48 photos during the 360-degree rotation of the arc axis, resulting in three photos for every 22.5 horizontal degrees.

Hair Strand Analysis

Another hair strand analysis camera with a 30x magnification capability is integrated into the Doku Studio Arc device. This camera can calculate the thickness, density, and the number of strands in the hair roots in the hair-bearing area using image processing. This information helps doctors understand the quality of the hair roots to be used in hair transplantation. It allows for a mathematical measurement of the coverage that the hair will provide after transplantation.

The Meaning of the Name Arc

The name Arc is derived from the English word for an inclined place or circular shape. The Doku Studio Arc device features numerous cameras arranged within a 90 cm diameter circular area. This is why the name Arc was chosen.
