Doku Studio Arc is a device developed as an R&D project within Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic, designed specifically for hair transplantation and to assist in pre-operative planning. The device's goal is to perform calculations that are nearly impossible to perform manually on a human head. These calculations enable doctors to make more accurate predictions regarding the results of hair transplantation.
Fundamental Operating Principle of the Device
Doku Studio Arc performs the following three tasks to calculate the transplantation area and evaluate the quality of hair follicles before the hair transplant:
- 3D Model Creation: Producing a 360-degree 3D model of the head
- Photography: Taking a total of 48 photos from 16 horizontal angles and 3 different axes
- Hair Strand Analysis: Obtaining information about hair thickness, density, and average hair strands per root from an integrated hair analysis device
These three features offer high standards in imaging, which all clinics require during hair transplantation processes.
3D Model Creation
Calculating the transplantation area is one of the most challenging tasks for all doctors planning hair transplantation. Estimating the transplantation area is essential to understanding the coverage of grafts to be implanted.
Doku Studio Arc houses seven of the most advanced cameras available today for 3D modelling, known as "Depth Cameras." These cameras, with their software, can model a 360-degree head model with exact dimensions within seconds from the images they capture in 1-2 seconds.
With the cameras in the device, 48 photos are taken. These photos are obtained from synchronous shots taken from four different cameras located at three different vertical angles. One of these cameras is positioned directly on top and takes one photo from the top. The other cameras are placed at vertical angles of 45, 90, and 135 degrees, assuming the top as 0 degrees. These three cameras take a total of 48 photos during the 360-degree rotation of the arc axis, resulting in three photos for every 22.5 horizontal degrees.
Hair Strand Analysis
Another hair strand analysis camera with a 30x magnification capability is integrated into the Doku Studio Arc device. This camera can calculate the thickness, density, and the number of strands in the hair roots in the hair-bearing area using image processing. This information helps doctors understand the quality of the hair roots to be used in hair transplantation. It allows for a mathematical measurement of the coverage that the hair will provide after transplantation.
Hair Transplantation Operation Planning and Doku Studio Arc
Hair transplantation is a life-changing operation for many people. When combined with human experience, this operation can achieve very successful results. With over 25 years of experience exclusively in hair transplantation and hair treatments, Dr. Serkan Aygın is a prominent figure in the field. He has never hesitated to incorporate science into his operations from the very beginning.
One of the factors that determine success in hair transplantation is the density of the implanted roots, which is the number of grafts per square centimeter. Doku Studio Arc can calculate the exact area in square centimeters that the doctor plans to transplant using the 3D model it creates, allowing for a precise graft number calculation per square centimeter
Two Iconic Awards to Doku Studio Arc
iF Design Award 2023
We are thrilled to announce that the innovative Doku Studio Arc has won the prestigious iF Design Award 2023! This groundbreaking technology, designed for efficient head scanning and analysis, has been recognized for its exceptional blend of functionality, aesthetics, and user experience. By securing this coveted accolade, Doku Studio has established itself as a pioneer in the industry.
German Design Award 2023
Doku Studio Arc's design was awarded as an innovative health device in the German Design Award 2023 and was officially recognized by the council. This award values the aesthetic appearance and user experience of the device. The award was given to the device produced by Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic among many applications from various developed countries worldwide, making us proud. It is also an honor to receive this award from Germany, a technology-oriented country.
The Meaning of the Name Arc
The name Arc is derived from the English word for an inclined place or circular shape. The Doku Studio Arc device features numerous cameras arranged within a 90 cm diameter circular area. This is why the name Arc was chosen.
Hair Transplantation Technology and Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic
The use of technology is inevitable in today's world. In the labor-intensive field of hair transplantation, incorporating more technology will undoubtedly improve the quality of work.
Turkey has assumed a leading role in the field of hair transplantation worldwide. Many doctors in Turkey are involved in various innovations, and some of these innovative projects in the hair transplantation field have gained international recognition. The Doku Studio Arc project began during the pandemic conditions of 2020 and managed to be ready for initial testing within a relatively short period of 1.5 years. Today, all patients visiting the Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic receive services with the help of the Doku Studio Arc device.
