Is sweating bad after hair transplant?

After the hair transplant, patients should avoid excessive sweating in order to prevent damage to transplanted grafts. They should pay close attention to instructions about avoiding touching and pulling grafts during the first ten days after the procedure. Exercise can cause excessive sweating, but so can hot showers, going into a sauna or staying outdoors for a long period of time on an extremely hot day. They should also avoid heavy labors or physical activity in order to protect the head from excessive sweating after the hair transplant. It is essential for a patient’s blood pressure and heart rate to stay in a safe zone until the risk of swelling has gone.

  • Wearing a tight hat in the first week after the operation is also a bad idea because the contact with the grafts can cause friction.  During this period, it is best to keep anything from touching your head.
  •  If the patient is living in a hot climate, then it is recommended to stay indoors as much as possible for the first 2-3 weeks following the procedure.
