Men around the world struggle with hair loss. For a long time, there wasn’t really all that much that they could do about it. But now, owing to recent medical advances, hair transplants are a real option for image-conscious men the world over. Year after year, more people are choosing a hair transplant in Turkey for a number of reasons.
Constantly being in the public eye means that image is everything. As a result, countless male celebrities have had hair transplants to help keep up their image. As more and more are coming forward about their experiences, more men are seeing that a full head of hair is within their reach.
Did Jimmy Carr have a hair transplant?
The 8 out of 10 Cats and Big Fat Quiz of the Year host has been quite open about the work he’s had done. On the BBC show Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, Carr stated that he had been looking like “a snooker-playing vampire” explaining that “what happened was my hair was socially distancing from my forehead and I’d had enough of it.”
Carr also confessed to having had dental veneers put in some years ago as well as “a bit of botox” stating “what else are you going to do in lockdown?”
What do we know about his hair transplant?
In his own words “I shaved my head and what they do is take hairs from the back of your head and they put them on the front. Basically, I had enough hair, it was just in the wrong place. It was a bit of a redistribution.”
In a nutshell, this is how all hair transplant procedures are performed. During a sapphire FUE hair transplant, a patient’s healthy hairs are extracted from a donor area (typically the back of the head) and are implanted into the recipient area. While the specifics of Jimmy Carr’s hair transplant are not known, our surgeons have looked through his before and after photos and can make a few good guesses.
Overall, Carr was an ideal candidate for a hair transplant. His hairline had only receded 1-2 inches and he still had dense hair on the back and sides of his head. He most likely underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant. This is perhaps the most widely-used transplant method.
Carr likely needed around 1,000 grafts to complete his procedure and probably only had to spend a couple of hours in the chair while the surgeons worked.
